My Light Bulb Moment

April 3, 2018 by Cheryl Osler

I recently had a light bulb moment and realized that it’s time for a change and to tell my story again. As all of you I’m sure know, I’ve been really into fitness and exercise for many years. I’ve been a certified personal trainer since 2009 and a couple of years after that became certified to teach boxing fitness. Early this year I became certified as a Life Coach and in doing so had my own “aah, hah moment. It didn’t hit me alongside my head but was a more subtle moment. In learning about what a life coach does I realized that I like to learn. I like to improve my knowledge in order to help other people in many different ways and fitness was just one of those ways. Then, after I’d finished the Life Coach classes saw one offered in Productivity that sounded interesting to me so I signed up. Wow, I was really into this one and finished it in a week!

Now I’ve been listening to podcasts on my commute to and from my day job for about a year and a few months ago happened upon one called Organize 365. I listened to one episode, then another and then binge listened from the beginning of it to the present. It’s gotten to the point where I look forward to each new episode and listen to it on the day it comes out. She’s a professional organizer and has her own methods which really make sense to me!

So, while I was in this learning mode and listening to this podcast, my District Manager at work asked me to help one of his direct reports to put on a 4 days offsite sales conference for about 75 people who would be flying in from different cities in the West. BTW, the event was to be held in two weeks and nothing including the hotel to hold it in had been chosen. I agreed to do it (I couldn’t really refuse, could I). When I went home that night and told my family about it I told them I had no idea why Jim had asked me to do this and my brother immediately responded “because you’re the most organized person I know and you’re good at it”. Really????  I’d never thought about it but I had put on other events and liked to have things organized. I actually think I’m a little OCDC since I like having things lined up evenly all the time –  LOL. But I never considered being organized anything special because it just comes naturally to me. Doesn’t it to everyone?

That’s when I had the light bulb moment. Organization is my superpower and I love doing it!!! I love to organize drawers, closets, kitchen cupboards, desks, files and especially papers! In fact my tax man says he can’t believe how I bring in all my numbers organized so well he just has to punch them in.

So, while I’ll always love fitness I’m going to go with my newly realized superpower and go into professional organizing! To that end I have signed up to be a licensed/certified trainer for the Organize 365 Sunday Basket Program which is designed to help people get all their household paperwork organized and then keep it organized with a patented system. I will be holding in person and online 1 ½ hour workshops where you bring all your papers in a laundry basket or box of some kind and I help you organize them into categories and provide you with a set of pockets for those categories for just $30 or for $75 you get another set of the slash pockets to go even deeper into the paper organizing and get a 3 hour workshop to do it all. I personally suggest that along with your papers you bring your beverage of choice to enjoy during the organizing and socializing that happens during the workshops.

Here’s a short video where I explain about changing direction and demonstrate what the Sunday Basket system is:
